(a)   Examine how God provided comfort for man in the second creation story
(b)    In what three ways can man sustain God’s creation?

Observation

This question was popular among candidates. Candidate who understood the demands of the question did not have problem answering it as they performed greatly in it especially in the A part. They were able to outline the happenings of the second creation story which was for the benefit and comfort of mankind. Also, they tackled the B part of the question effortlessly without much challenges. Weaknesses on the part of candidates in the A part is attributed to some candidates writing about the first creation story and how God created the day and night, the fishes and animals and all therein in the world for the sustenance of mankind.Below are the expected points the candidates should have started writing their points from;


A. GOD PROVIDED COMFORT FOR MAN IN THE SECOND CREATION STORY (GENESIS 2:8-25)

  1. In the second creation story, God created man out of dust and gave him breath to become a living being.
  2. God placed man in the Garden of Eden, a suitable environment to keep and till it.
  3. The garden contained everything Adam needed to make life worth living
  4. There were trees of all kinds for shelter.
  5. Food was available in different forms from the different plants.
  6. Man was given the liberty to eat of every tree except the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
  7. Water was also provided for man from the four rivers that flowed in the garden (Tigris, Euphrates, Pishon and Gihon).
  8. It was also meant to water the garden.
  9. God gave man dominion and authority over all the creatures in the garden.
  10. Man was given the power to name all the animals in the garden.

B. HOW MAN CAN SUSTAIN GOD’S CREATION

  1. Preservation of water bodies
  2. Proper disposal of waste
  3. Afforestation (planting of trees)
  4. Avoid illegal mining.
  5. Avoid sand winning
  6. Avoid air pollution
  7. Avoid over-grazing/ bad farming practices
  8. Avoid illegal hunting
