(b)        Sketch a cross-section of a five-ply plywood and label two parts.

Observation

 

Few candidates were able to:


-           state four uses of plywood in carpentry and joinery.  
-           sketch a cross-section of a five-ply plywood and label two parts.
However, most of them failed to:

      • make an exploded pictorial sketch of a long and short shoulder mortise and tenon joint.

7. (a)    Uses of plywood in carpentry and joinery:

  • construction of ceiling;
  • construction of partition;
  • construction of wall panelling;
  • construction of wardrobes;
  • construction of flush doors/panel doors;
  • construction of formworks;
  • construction of furniture.
