(1)        The performance of candidates was affected by the following weaknesses:

1. non adherence to rubrics;
2. rampant spelling mistakes;
3. poor mathematical/manipulative skills;
4. inability to understand the demands of the questions;
5. failure to express numerical answers in appropriate number of significant figures;
6. omission/wrong use of units;
7. lack of familiarity with common pieces of apparatus in the laboratory;
8. inability to differentiate between theoretical knowledge and practical observations;
9. inability to make correct observations and draw logical conclusions from given tests;                                                                                                              

(2)        The following remedies were however, suggested in order to overcoming these weaknesses.    

1. Candidates should prepare  adequately  for  examination;
2. candidates should familiarize themselves with  common pieces of apparatus in the laboratory;
3. Candidates should familiarise themselves with the examination syllabus.
