(a) Define civil society organisation.
(b) Highlight six roles of civil society organisations in the promotion of popular participation in the affairs of the Nigerian society.
Observation
The candidates that attempted the questions did well especially in explaining their points. The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to the question:
(a)        Definition of civil society  organization
    Civil society organization refers to  non-governmental and non-profit making organizations established by  individuals/groups for the purpose of promoting and protecting the common  interest of the people with specific aim of making society better through  several programmes and activities.
  
(b) Roles of civil society organizations in the promotion of popular participation in the affairs of the Nigerian society.
- Educate citizens to develop positive values in society
 - Mobilization of citizens for democratic governance
 - Checking excesses of political leaders and state officials
 - Helping to enforce fundamental human rights of citizens
 - Educating the citizenry on their rights, duties and obligations through social media, public lectures, radio and television
 - Objective criticism of government policies and programmes
 - Promote peace building, conflict prevention and resolution
