  1. State the use of each of the following equipment:
    1. ironing board;
    2. pressing mitt;
    3. sleeve ham;
    4. sleeve board.
  2. Give reasons for pressing a dress during construction.
  3. Suggest different types of fullness that can be made on a yoke of a garment.
  4. State ways of concealing a stubborn stain in a garment.

 

Observation

 

Many of the candidates were able to answer questions 2(a), (b), (c) and (d) correctly and scored very high marks. Candidates were able to state the use of ironing board as a surface for ironing and pressing articles. Pressing mitt worn on the hand when pressing difficult and small areas of garments. Sleeve ham used for pressing bugling sections. Sleeve board used for pressing sleeves and small areas of garments. Candidates were able to give reasons for pressing a dress during its construction as:

  1. to remove creases
  2.  to keep surface smooth
  3. To flatten seams
  4. To fuse iron-on patches or motifs.

Candidates were able to also suggest the different types of fullness that can be made on a yoke in a garment. Candidates were also able to state the ways of concealing stubborn stain in a garment. Generally, in this question, the performance was good.
