Candidates' Weakness

 

The Chief Examiner reported that the candidates’ weakness was on differentiating between a register and main memory. Most of the candidates were confused between the computer register and attendance register. Candidates lacked knowledge of the function of registers. Spelling mistakes were also reported to be common among the candidates.  Candidates avoided questions on programming.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The following suggestions were given for improved performance:

  1.    Teachers should use real object to teach registers and underline keywords while teaching.
  2. Teachers should do more practical classes for candidates before examination.
  3.     Teachers should use electrical circuit to teach logic gates and adopt better teaching methods.
  4.  Teachers should pay more attention on programming and also use past question papers for revision.
  5.     Schools should engage more qualified teachers.
  6.     Examination malpractice should be avoided.
  7. Students should be more disciplined.
  8. Computer laboratory should be made available in all schools.
