Candidates were expected to define a computer virus as a software/program that duplicates itself and interferes with the normal functioning of the computer system. Candidates should also know that sources of computer viruses included - Infected removable storage devices, opening/downloading infected webpages/links from the internet and connecting the computer to an infected network.
Some ways of preventing computer virus infection were – use of anti-virus, run anti virus scan on removable media and not opening unknown or suspicious files.

In parts (d) and (e), majority of the candidates were reported to have given the functions of the input and memory units of the computer correctly. The function of the input unit was for entering/capturing/feeding data/information into the computer. An example of an input unit was the keyboard. The function of the memory unit was serving as the medium for the storage of data/information in the computer system. An example of the memory unit was the Random Access Memory (RAM).
