Candidates' Weakness
The Chief Examiner reported that majority of the Candidates were weak in the demonstration of practical skills. Candidates also showed weakness in Database Management System, features of software and creating email addresses. Candidates also showed weaknesses on use of technical terms and wrong use of concept was observed. Poor logical presentation of steps for performing tasks was common.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
The following remedies were suggested by the Chief Examiner:
- Teachers should perform more practical work on Database Management System.
- Teachers should do more to instruct candidates on the method of answering question by exposing them to past question papers.
- Teachers should use the correct concept or term while teaching.
- Schools should send teachers to participate in WAEC coordination exercise so as to gain the necessary skills to improve teaching.
- Students should consult past question papers while preparing for the examination.
