The common weaknesses manifested in the candidates' scripts were:
    (i)  Inability to compute values from graphs
A good number of the candidates could not compute values from graph. This made it
di fficult for them to carry out simple calculations. Consequently, candidates lost good
marks for this reason.
    (ii)  Poor grammatical exprcssion
A good number of candidates found it difficult to present their ideas on paper. Most of the
candidates lacked the adequate language or expression. Poor marks were scored for this
reason.
    (iii) Failure to expatiate point
Many candidates onl, listed points without providing detailed explanations. This fact made it difficult for them to score full marks for the questions attempted.
Suggested remedies for these weaknesses are as follows:
      (i)  Students should avoid the mere listing ofpoints. They should be encouraged to go further by explaining their points in order to score good marks.
(ii) Students should be encouraged to read relevant textbooks, novels, newspapers etc. to help
improve on their grammatical skills.
(iii) Teachers should teach their students to LIse the appropriate terms required in answering
questions on basic concepts.
(iv) Students should be encouraged to practice the use of basic tools of economic analysis before the examination.
