Foods and Nutrition Paper 2, WASSCE (SC), 2019

Question 4

OBSERVATION

This question tested the types of kitchen layout, rules for maintaining kitchen hygiene and the advantages of a well-planned kitchen; it was one of the candidates’ strengths. In 1 (a), almost all the candidates across the centres sketched different types of kitchen layout including the L-shaped, U-shaped, peninsula and island kitchen layout.

They went further to label the different areas in the kitchen such as the sink area, cooker area and work surfaces. In 4 (b) and (c) where they were required to state the rules for maintaining kitchen hygiene and advantages of a well-planned kitchen respectively, candidates made a good attempt at answering the questions and they listed correct points such as dispose refuse bin regularly for (b)and reduce fatigue for (c).
