The Chief Examiner reported that candidates were still weak in Vectors and Mechanics. They also performed poorly in the following areas:

1. Binomial expansion
2. Statistics
3. Probability
4. Application of differentiation

 

1. SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The following remedies were suggested by the Chief Examiner:

1. Candidates were encouraged to read through the questions carefully before answering them in order to appreciate its demands.
2. Experienced Mathematics teachers should be engaged to teach the subject.
3. Teachers as well as candidates were encouraged to put in more effort in the teaching and learning of the subject and especially the weak areas.
4. Candidates were encouraged to prepare adequately for the examination.
