Candidates' Weakness

 

The Chief Examiner reported that Candidates’’ attempt on these areas were weak and not encouraging. The areas are:

  1. Logarithm
  2. Partial Fractions
  3. Integration
  4. Polynomial (Cubic Equation)
  5. Binomial Expansion
  6. Vectors
  7. Moments and Resolution of Forces
  8. Failure to follow rubrics
    SUGGESTED REMEDIES

      The Chief Examiner suggested that the following remedies should be put in place:

  1. Teachers are encouraged to the areas where Candidates’ are weak by laying emphasis and giving of assignments and class work.
  2. Candidates’ should always study and understand the requirements of a particular question before solving.
  3. Qualified and capable Further Mathematics Teachers should be engaged in Schools.
  4. Occasional training and retraining should be put in place by Schools and Governments.
