The candidates were required to:
(a)  Describe the four steps in drafting a pattern for the bishop sleeve in the diagram.
(b)  Itemize any two types of sleeves that are together with the garment bodice.

In question 1a, candidates were required to describe the four steps in drafting a pattern for bishop sleeve which required;

  • Tracing out the sleeve block
  • Dividing the length into six equal sections and ruling line from hem to the crown and cut.
  • Slash by cutting through the lines and spread to increase with as required.
  • Trace out, add seam allowance and cut out.

Candidates who attempted the question did not do well at all .In fact, the few who attempted started from taking body measurements and drafting the basic sleeve  instead of developing  it from the basic block variations are drafting the basic block.
1b. Instead of candidates mentioning the sleeves that are cut together with the garment, they were busy mentioning just any sleeve. The sleeves that are cut together with the garment bodice are kimono, magyar, raglan cap, dolman and batwing and not just any sleeve.
