Observation

This was not a popular question among the candidates and most of those who answered the question performed poorly.  The answers to the parts of the questions where candidates performed poorly include:

Specific areas of production of water power

            -           in dams e.g. Kainji, Akosombo, Aswan, Shansta, Grand Coules,
                        Bumbana, Dodo etc.

            Method of production of water power

            -           construction of dam to raise water level to create reservoir;
            -           water constantly flow from great heights into dam;
            -           flowing water is channeled into penstocks;
            -           moving water turns turbine to generate power.

            Uses of water power

            -           domestic uses;
            -           industrial uses.

            Specific areas of production of sun power

            -           tropical areas;
            -           sub-tropical areas;
            -           e.g. Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, the Gambia, etc.

            Method of Production of the power derived from the sun

            -           capturing through solar receptor/panels;
            -           the surfaces of receptors which are curved or flat
            concentrates the sun energy for use;
-           large open spaces required;
-           high insolation all year round;
-           could also be captured through solar cells and accumulators;
-           solar reflectors may be used to redirect the solar energy.

Uses of the type of power derived from the sun

-           drying crops;
-           powering of watches and calculators;
-           production of electricity;
-           drying of cloths.
