This question was very popular among the candidates.  Most of the candidates highlighted the uses of vegetation correctly.  They listed the causes of deforestation but however, some could not suggest useful steps which could be taken to minimize deforestation.  The steps that could be taken to minimize deforestation include:

-           mass campaign against indiscriminate forest destruction;
-           replacement of felled trees;
-           legislation on size of trees to be cut down;
-           campaign against use of firewood;
-           enforcement of legislation against bush burning;
-           controlled grazing.
