This was a popular question among the candidates and it was properly answered by most of the candidates that attempted it. Such candidates were able to highlight the following as advantages of air transport over other modes:
- uses direct route;
- covers longer distances in short time than other means;
- relatively more secured;
- remotest areas can be accessed by helicopters;
- routes do not require maintenance;
- used effectively in emergency situations;
- least affected by ground conditions;
- more comfortable than transportation by other means;
- suitable for transporting light goods of high value;
- suitable for carrying perishable goods.
Such candidates were also able to explain the problems limiting air transport in Nigeria. |
