This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was good.  In
part (a) candidates could not give correct answers, they wrote wrong answers such as drinking unpurified water, using unpurified water to cook, cause water borne diseases as answers to water-borne disease.           

In part (b) candidates correctly copied and completed the table, although, some candidates mistook bacteria as the causative agent of rabies and measles.  In part (c) candidates could not correctly explain how the pill and foaming tablets prevent pregnancy.  They only mentioned that the pill and foaming tablets are methods of avoiding pregnancy meanwhile they were required to explain how each of the methods  prevents pregnancy.  In part (d)(i) and (ii) candidates correctly state advantages of family planning and methods of controlling AIDS.

However, the expected answers are as follows:

  6. abstinence from sex with strangers/avoid premarital sex
  7. avoid kissing strangers
  8. people should go for regular test to know their HIV status.
