Weakness and Remedies
Candidates’ weaknesses include their inability to:
- spell correctly;
- write in simple English Language;
- identify fractured bone in the illustrated diagram;
- mention disadvantage of each of the toilets;
- contagious diseases that could be contacted through the toilet;
- state disadvantages of each of the feeding types;
- state the major function of the sling;
- name muscles which could be found in the upper part of the arm;
- state objectives of industrial health;
- mention way of preventing road accidents of pedestrians;
- list the components of fat;
- outline functions of fat;
- state functions of sodium in humans;
- state three importance of vitamin A;
- state corrective measures of nutritional problems in children.
The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:
- teachers should endeavour to use instructional materials especially when teaching aspects that have diagrams in health education
- teachers should recommend textbooks that covered a wide range of the syllabus for students
- students should be encouraged to cultivate habit of seriousness when in school;
- government should recruit more qualified health education teachers
- also a special call to principals/school administrators health education should be assigned to health education specialist in schools
- teachers should endeavour to get previous marking schemes in teaching the students what is expected of them during examination
