WEAKNESS/REMEDIES

The candidates weaknesses include their inability to:

  • cover the required syllabus
  • express themselves correctly in  English Language
  • label diagrams correctly
  • draw diagrams accurately
  • understand the technical terms of the subject
  • understand the demands of the question
  • write correct spellings
  • work  independently without copying copied one another
  • answer a question on a fresh page
  • define food preservation
  • explain methods of food preservation such as air drying, vacuum drying, pasteurization and salting.
  • define vitamins
  • mention deficiencies each caused by lack of vitamins A and D
  • differentiate between a quack and quackery in health science
  • state effects of promiscuity
  • state differences between greenstick fracture and complicated fracture
  • state steps involved in mouth to mouth artificial resuscitation
  • explain terms as used in First Aid treatment, such as artificial respiration and improvised First Aid kits.

       The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses.

  • more work should be done by the English Language teacher in preparation for the examination
  • students should read extensively to cover the syllabus
  • teachers should  emphasize subject terminologies that are very important to know during teaching
  • teachers should engage students in drawing diagrams and also labeling of appropriate parts
  • teachers should use  past WAEC question papers to teach students for proper understanding of the subject and approach to use in answering questions.
