able to enumerate the point to consider when planning to buy in bulk as:

  • Available storage facilities
  • a proper storage is needed to preserve the food.
  • Food in season – foods are fresh and cheaper when in season.
  • Size of the family – size of the family will affect what to buy.
  • Amount of money available – if one food item is bought in bulk there must be enough money to buy others.
  • Quality of food to be purchased – good quality food will keep well.
  • The frequency of consumption of the food involved – foods kept too long may start losing taste.
  • Nature of food stuff (perishable or non–perishable) – this will determine the type of storage needed e.g. freezer for perishable foods.
