Candidates were asked to write a letter to the head of their school/principal, telling him of the bad behaviours students indulge in nowadays. This is a formal letter but many candidates wrote it as an informal letter they neither included the address of the recipient nor the caption as required.

(b)      This question requires the explanation of a proverb that says ‘if you worship a king, kingship will get to you’ and a long story to bring out the meaning. Very few candidates wrote relevant stories by explaining it first but could not get the full length required while some could not explain it before telling the story.

(c)        Candidates were to write down the advice they would give to their junior relative who was newly admitted into the college. Many candidates got the points listed well in a prose form; few treated it as an informal letter while some numbered their points.

(d)       This is an argumentative essay where candidates were expected to either support or oppose the topic which states that it is proper to teach primary/nursery school pupils of Igbo origin using Igbo language. The few candidates that attempted this question gave very scanty points.

(e)        Here, candidates were expected to write in a dialogue form on the level of employment in the country. So many candidates failed to follow the dialogue pattern rather they presented it in a prose form.
