Observation

A. Here, the candidate was expected to write a letter to his/her sister in the secondary school who wanted to give up education for marriage, giving her reasons why she should finish the university education before marriage.
The important points required include: - that she does not know the intricacies of marriage yet, - that university education helps girls to be more outspoken, - that stopping half way would make her myopic in thinking, - that she would have learnt more after the university education to enable her get a better job, etc.
    Most candidates that attempted this question tried and but could not give enough relevant points.

 

B.  This is an essay on a proverb. Candidates were expected to explain the proverb that says: ‘If you work in the sun, you reap in a calm environment’ and write a story to illustrate it.
Some candidates that attempted this question did not explain the proverb before going ahead to illustrate with appropriate stories.

 

C.  This is speech writing: The Candidate was expected to write a speech as the school senior prefect to be delivered on the sent-off day for the outgoing students.
Many candidates did not go for this question.


D.  Candidates were required to write an argumentative essay on the topic: Living in the hostel is better than coming from home as students.
Most of the candidates that attempted this question did not balance their arguments.

E.   In this question, candidates were asked to write a dialogue between Obinna and Jụọchi on Ebola.
The candidates that attempted this question adopted the correct format but failed to talk about the time and manner in which Ebola came into Nigeria.
