Question 5

  1. Write Hadith 13 of an-Nawawi preferably in Arabic or transliteration.
  2. Translate it into English.
  3. Comment on itDiscuss the role of uffaz in the preservation of the Qur'ān.

 


Observation

 

Hadith 13 of an-Nawawi collection provided the Candidates opportunities to answer it as one of the popular question. All the areas of expectations i.e. Arabic text, transliteration and its translation in English accorded the candidates better opportunity to perform significantly well. Majority of the candidates performed very well. Candidates were expected to mention the following points:

Transliteration
An Anasi b. Mālikin,khādimi rasūlillahi allallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallama, ‘anin-Nabiyyi,allallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallama qāl: “Lā yu’minu aadukum attā yuḥibba li akḥīḥ mā yuḥibbu linafsihi”.
(Rawāhu al-Bukhārī wa Muslim).

Translation
On the authority of Anas b. Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “None of you (really) believes (in God and His religion) till he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself”.
    Transmitted by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.

  1. The Hadith could simply be summarized as love for all and hatred for none.
  2. Belief in Allah is determined by our concern for others.
  3. Love for one another builds trust and confidence among people.
  4. It is only when we show others love that we shall also be loved.
  5. Loving others is pleasing to Allah.
  6. Allah gives reward to those who love others.
  7. Loving one another promotes true Islamic brotherhood.
  8. The basis of faith lies in wishing for the well-being of other Muslims.
  9. The Hadith teaches that one should not be greedy and selfish.
  10. Allah is the Giver of wealth so we should share with others.
  11. We should give without expecting favour in return.
  12. Loving one another promotes peaceful co-existence in the society.
  13. The Hadith teaches that a Muslim should not be jealous.
