The poet is attracted by the lass and her song which is captivating.  He is
mesmerized by the song –“I listened, motionless and still” and when he has to go
on “the music in my heart I bore”.  The poet also finds the song enthralling even
though he does not understand the language with which the lass sings.  The song
soothes her as she cuts and binds the grain.  What matter is the unalloyed beauty
distilled from its melancholy strain and its soothing effect on the listener.
