Observation

The responses of the candidates to this question was poor and very few of them scored high marks. The expected answers were:

• gemstones are used for making jewelries and other adornment  e.g. diamond, ruby;
• diamond as gemstone is used in drilling bits;
• diamond as gemstone is used industrially in the cutting of other stones;
• gemstones are used in laser technology;
• diamond as gemstones could be used industrially as abrasive;
• for decoration;
• used as hedge;
• means of exchange.
