  2. State four differences between a minor and major game.           [8 marks]

Observation

 

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was good. In part (a) many candidates did well in it, but few could not clearly differentiate between intramural and extramural sports competitions. They wrote wrong answer like intramural sports is performance within the country, while extramural is sports competition all over the world. In part (b)  
The expected answers are as follow:

8. (a)   DIFFERENCES BETWEEN INTRAMURAL AND EXTRAMURAL SPORTS COMPETITIONS
-       intramural sports competition is that which is organized for pupils/students within the same school
 While

  •  extramural sports competition is that which is organized  between two or more different schools / colleges

   (b)    DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A MINOR GAME AND A MAJOR GAME
-  minor game requires little or no equipment while major game requires standard equipment.
-  minor game involves simple/low organization while major game involves complex organization
-  minor game emphasizes little or no skill while major game emphasizes high level of skills
-  minor game does not require the services of trained officials while major game uses expert officials
-  minor game is less expensive while major game is more expensive
-  minor game involves less risk while major game involves more risk
-   minor game is for fun and enjoyment while major game is for acquiring medals and laurels
-   minor game does not involve regulated time / scoring while major game involves regulated time/scoring
-  minor game does not emphasize strict adherence to rules while major game emphasize strict adherence to rules
