(a)     Sketch a type and label four of its parts
(b)     State two advantages of monotype composition method over linotype composition method.     
(c)      List three examples of type faces.

Observation

Many of the candidates made good attempt at this question and their performance was okay.

(B)     Advantages of monotype over linotype
-           Ease of correction (correction possible at any level of production).
-           Reproduction of job is easier using the monotype composition.
-           The type characters in monotype composition can be redistributed into type case.
-           Spaces between words can be corrected or change during correction or justification without going back to casting machine.
-           Indentation /Paragraphing could be corrected without going back to casting machine.
-           It does not give much problem during locking-up of forme.
