Technical Drawing 2, WASSCE (SC), 2016

Question 4

Two views of a line are shown below:

(a) draw full size, the given views.

(b) Determine the:

(i) horizontal and vertical traces;

(ii) true angles of inclination to the horizontal and vertical planes;

(iii) true length.

Observation

This is a question involving lines in space and locating the vertical and horizontal traces and getting the true angle of inclination to the horizontal and vertical planes.

Many of the candidates who attempted this question got is wrong.

Candidates were expected to:

DRAWING TWO VIEWS OF THE LINE

  1. draw the two views of the line;
  2. use the correct scale 1:1;
  3. determine the true lengths using any appropriate method on the two views;

  1. state the true length, 101 ±1;
  2. state the true angle of inclination to the vertical plane 240;
  3. state the true angle of inclination to the horizontal plane 270;
  4. draw and indicate the vertical trace (VT);
  5. draw and indicate the horizontal trace (HT);
  6. draw neatly.
