(a) Kí ni oríkì Sílébù?
(b) Nínú ọ̀rọ̀ oníbátánì F1KF2 dárúkọ àwọn fáwẹ́lì tí ó lè jẹ́ F2 bí F1 bá jẹ́:
i. e;
ii. ọ.

(d) Fi àpẹẹrẹ ọ̀rọ̀ kọ̀ọ̀kan gbe ìdáhùn rẹ̀ ní 2 (b) lẹ́sẹ̀.

Observation

 


Candidates were required to define a syllable in Yoruba grammar in (a), use the F1KF2 pattern to derive F2 vowel co-occurence if ‘e’ and ‘ọ’ are F1 in (b) and give two examples each of words to illustrate the pattern of vowel co-occurence in (d). Many candidates mistook sound for syllable in (a), they attempted (b) satisfactorily.

 

The responses expected include:

(ii) Bi fáwẹ̀lì ‘ọ’ bá jẹ́ F1 àwọn fáwẹ̀lì tí ó lè jẹ́ F2 ni: ẹ, ọ, a, i, ọn/an, in, àti un.


(d) (i) Àpẹẹrẹ àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó fi ìjẹyọ ‘e’ gẹ́gẹ́ bí F1 hàn nìwọ̀nyí:
etí, ebi, èyí, eji, èjí
ètè, èdè, eré, ère
èrò, ètò, èso, ejò
eku, eṣú, èrú, ewu
erin, egbin, eyín
ègùn, èrún, ègún

Most candidates gave wrong examples and those who gave correct examples failed to tone-mark the word. This led to loss of marks.
