The following weaknesses were observed from the candidates’ responses:

            -           Inability to list cutting operations that are carried out on a band saw.
-           Inability to state the activities a woodworking entrepreneur should carry out before setting up a business.
-           Poor knowledge of cutting operations that are carried out on the band saw.
-           Inability to classify the given timber defects.

On design and drawing questions, the following weaknesses were observed from the
candidates’ responses:

-           Use of straight edge instead of freehand.
-           Failure in showing cutting plane.
-           Repetition of the same design instead of two different designs.
-           Poor draughtsmanship.
To overcome these weaknesses, candidates should be given ample assignments on
the weaknesses listed above.  In addition, they should visit standard woodwork
shops in their locality.
