Question 10

THEMES FROM THE SELECTED EPISTLES

1 Cor 15: 12 – 58

  • What are the main features of Paul’s teaching to the Corinthians on the resurrection of Jesus?
  • In what two ways is this teaching significant to Christians?
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Observation

This question that required Paul’s teachings on the resurrection was poorly handled.  The argument presented in support were scanty and as a result their scores were generally low.  Some even wrote on Jesus’ second coming.  They failed to link up Christian faith with Christ’s resurrection. Vital points not mentioned were:

  • Paul rebuked the view held by some Corinthians that Jesus did not rise from the dead.
  • Physical body/flesh and blood cannot inherit the spiritual form/body of resurrection.
  • At resurrection physical body changes to spiritual to bear Jesus’s image.

In the (b) part, they applied residual knowledge which paid off and earned them few marks..
