    (a)(i)  Explain the term widowhood.  [3 marks]
    (ii)  State four problems confronting a widow  [4 marks]
    (b) Differentiate between consumer health and health consumer   [4 marks]

Observation

 

Many candidates attempted this question and their performance was fair. In Question (a), majority of the candidates explained who a widow is instead of widowhood. In Question (b), the terms consumer health and health consumer were used interchangeably in error by candidates thereby leading to vague and ambiguous answers.

The expected answers are as follow:

 (a)  (i)  Explanation of widowhood
-  Widowhood is the period/time during which a woman/man is a widow or
widower;
-  A state condition of a woman/man whose spouse has died and has not remarried.                                                                                        
(ii) Problems confronting a widow  
-   Loneliness/unhappy/depression/emotional imbalance     
-   Lack of security                                                
-   Poverty/economic/financial challenges
-   Family pressure/challenges/inheritance rights
-   Decision making becomes difficult
-   Tradition/culture/mourning rites
-   Frustration/difficulty in social interaction
