Weakness and Remedies

 

Candidates’ weaknesses include their inability to:

  • spell scientific and technical words correctly;
  • write in simple English Language;
  • differentiate between consumer health and health consumer;
  • state causes of shock;
  • mention body classifications in humans;
  • clearly state the health challenges that could affect a female of reproductive age as a result of alcohol consumption;
  • mention signs and symptoms of shock.

 

The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:

  • teachers should endeavour to use instructional materials especially when teaching aspects that have diagrams in health education;
  • teachers should recommend textbooks that covers a wide range of the syllabus for students;
  • students should be encouraged to cultivate habit of seriousness when in school;
  • government should recruit more qualified health education teachers
  • principals / school administrators should assign the teaching of health education to qualified graduates of health education.
  • teachers should endeavour to get previous marking schemes in teaching the students what is expected of them during examination
  • teachers and principals should participate in WASSCE coordination and marking exercise so as to update their knowledge on relevant areas.
