CANDIDATES’ STRENGTHS

Very few candidates demonstrated a high level of strength in:

(1) Adherence to rubrics Few candidates adhere strictly to the requirements of the questions by giving the expected responses to the questions they attempted.

(2) Knowledge of Nigerian Art Some candidates gave remarkable responses to questions 4, 5 and 6 which were on the traditional and contemporary art of Nigeria. These candidates gave the appropriate answers to question 4 on Ife court art and its characteristics, as well as question 5, on the formation, membership and functions of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA). In the same vein, few candidates responded correctly to question 6, on the life and art of Irein Wangboje and his contribution to the development of art in Nigeria.
