Candidate's Weakness
The following weaknesses were shown in the candidates’ work:
- Commission of grammatical mistakes;
- Writing of irrelevancies;
- Display of shallow knowledge of the texts;
- Inadvertent violation of rubrics;
- Misinterpretation of the questions.
4. SUGGESTED REMEDIES:
To overcome the observed weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended the following:
- Candidates should adequately prepare for the examination;
- Candidates should be encouraged to read the instructions very well so as to adequately understand the demands of the questions before attempting them;
- Teachers should train the candidates on how to answer questions in a logical and clear manner;
- Candidates should improve in their vocabulary by reading extensively;
- Conscious efforts should be made by candidates to write legibly in Arabic;
- Candidates should procure the prescribed texts for Arabic Literature;
- Qualified teachers should teach the subject so as to adequately impart the required knowledge to the students;
- Candidates should develop the attitude of continuous writing to help develop their writing skills.
