The following weaknesses were observed from candidates’ work:
- Ability to use the correct conventional symbols to represent some building elements.
- Some candidates used wide strip foundation instead of ordinary strip foundation.
- Inability to construct the semi-circular arches.
- Inability to dimension and label their drawings.
- Poor knowledge and skills of simple geometric constructions.
To overcome these weaknesses, candidates should be well grounded in:
- rudiments of technical or architectural drawing which include simple geometric construction of lines from a given point;
- proper methods of dimensioning building drawings;
- various lettering styles used in drawing.
In addition, candidates should be given ample building drawing assignments in order to enhance their flexibility in drawing.
