Question 7: Acts 8: 26-40
|
(a)
Describe Philip’s missionary activities in Judea and Samaria.
(b)State three problems facing the work of evangelism in your country.
|
Most of the candidates that answered this question muddle up the story. They combined the Jewish and Roman trials together and this made majority of them
score low scores as essential points were not mentioned i.e. (i) The governor
asked if Jesus was the king of the Jews (ii) Jesus did not respond to all the
allegations of the priest and elders (iii) Pilate asked whom they wanted released to
them, Jesus or Barabbas? (iv) They unanimously demanded for the release of
Barabbas and that Jesus be crucified.
The (b) part of the question was their undoing as only few gave the correct
answers. The points they would have mentioned are: (i) Pilate knew Jesus was
truly innocent of the charges (ii) He was pleasing the people to keep his
job/position (iii) Pilate presented himself as a weak leader. |
