Observation
This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance in this question was tremendous in both parts. They were able to use the activities of the contemporary society to relate to factors that can lead to political apathy and subsequently, its effects and dangers of political party as well as ways of engaging in popular participation. Additional points candidates missed out are:
(a). WAYS OF ENGAGING IN POPULAR PARTICIPATION IN THE SOCIETY
- By voting in elections/referendum.
- By contesting elections.
- By forming/joining political parties.
- By observing/monitoring the conduct of elections.
- By criticizing government officials/policies/programmes.
- By participation in public debates on government activities/policies/programmes.
- By participating in demonstrations for or against officials/policies/programmes of government.
- By participating in community development projects/programmes/activities/youth empowerment.
- By participating in public enlightenment programmes.
- By canvassing for votes/support for parties and candidates.
- By forming/joining pressure group/civil societies.
