Observation

This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance was above average. To those who scored low marks in the questions, this was because they were mixing up the place of civil servants and civil societies together. Expected points candidates could include in their answers are:

1. OUTLINE THREE CHARACTERISTICS OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS IN NIGERIA
   1. They are non-governmental organization.
   2. Voluntary membership.
   3. They focus on advancement of interests that are beneficial to the generality of the people.
   4. They are non-profit making organization.
   5. They are not funded by government.
   6. They are legally registered and recognized in their area of operations.

 

2. CONTRIBUTIONS OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS TO THE SUSTENANCE OF DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA
   1. Promote general political education.
   2. Promotes popular participation in democratic process.
   3. Check the excesses of government/political office holders.
   4. Promote the right of citizens.
