Observation

The candidates were required to read the passage and summarize some details in a specific number of sentences. Majority of the candidates did not understand the passage, thus they resorted to copying copiously from the passage in response to the question asked. It was observed that many candidates could not separate main ideas/points from details and illustrations.

Candidates must understand what the passage says and what the questions demand and then, summarize in their own words. Copying verbatim from the passage without regards does not make for good summary.
