Observation

Many candidates performed poorly in this section even though the passage was straightforward and simple. The candidates were required to read the passage and summarize in a stated number of sentences, details in the passage. Some candidates were able to do this but it was obvious that a lot of them had problems separating main ideas from details. Some candidates did apt lifting cleverly while some resorted to copying copiously in response to the question asked. Also, some wrote responses that were not included in the passage.
