Candidates' Weakness

The following reasons contributed to some inadequacies observed in the performance of the candidates:

• Inability to properly express/communicate their thoughts clearly;
• Spelling and definition errors particularly of technical terms;
• Lack of adequate understanding of the requirement of certain questions.

The suggested remedies were as follows:

• All areas of the syllabus should be adequately taught by the teachers;
• More practical work is encouraged in schools;
• Candidates should cultivate the attitude of reading books
• Candidates should observe their industrial attachment scheme as recommended in the syllabus;
• Candidates should expose themselves to materials that will enhance their communication skills;
• Candidates should ensure adequate knowledge of the technical terms is achieved;
• The need for Government and other stake holders to make available relevant resource materials and textbooks;
• Qualified and well-trained personnel should be recruited to teach the students.
