Observation

This was another popular question and many of the candidates who answered
it performed very well. They understand the demand of the question and scored good marks. However, those who score low marks were giving wrong answers to the question. The candidates were expected to give the following points as their answers.

(i)         Officials found to be corrupt must be sanctioned.
(ii)        Accounts of public corporation should be regularly audited.
(iii)       The management of public corporation should be answerable to the public                                                 through parliament.
(iv)       Public corporations should be adequately resourced/financed.
(v)        Regular staff training is necessary to enable them improve on                                                          service delivery.
(vi)       Public corporations should operate without any form of political interference.
(vii)      There should be job security for the management staff of public corporations.

1. Recruitment into public corporations should be based on merit and not favouritism and nepotism.
2. Transparent accountable processes and procedures.
3. Supervision and co-ordination should be strengthened.
4. Members of the public, management and staff should be committed and patriotic.
5. Need to conduct regular researches to find out problems and solutions.
6. Appointment of credible and people of integrity on to the board.
7. Commercialization of public corporation.
