Explain five reasons for which government should be maintained as a discipline in secondary schools.
Observation
This was a popular and a straight forward question. All the candidates who attempted it
misinterpreted the question as how discipline should be maintained in schools. Performance was average. Candidates were expected to provide the following answers to the question.

- Understanding of the principles guiding public offices/officers
- It helps to understand the processes by which the affairs of a country are managed

- It creates a career path and employment opportunities
- Trains, prepares and equips people for political offices
- To understand the socio-political and economic structures and factors in the state
- Develops citizens knowledge of their rights, duties and obligations
- Educates citizens on what to do when their rights are violated
- Enables citizens to understand their country’s relationship with other countries and international organizations
- For personal development and interest
- Inculcates a sense of belonging and patriotism in the citizens
- Enables students to know and rationally compare systems of government
- It enables the students to know the constitution and how it operates
