OBSERVATION
This aspect of the Hadith Literature seems to have been neglected by teachers of Islamic Studies. This was evident in a few candidates that chose the question and the poor performance they recorded. Some of the important points expected of them were that women were among the best traditionists; ‘Aishah, the wife of the Prophet (S.A.W.) was an authority on Hadith and that she also taught it to people; Fatimah the daughter of the Prophet (S.A.W.) also excelled in the study of Hadith; Hafsah and ‘Umm Darda’ were other women of prominence who studied Hadith and that Karimah was the best authority of Hadith in the 5th Century.
