Purposes of Iddah as raised by the candidates include the probability of reconciliation; establishment of pregnancy and a period of mourning of the deceased. On durations, three menstrual cycles for divorced menstruating women; four months and ten days for ‘Iddah of widowhood and at least one year for ‘Iddatul- Mafqud were correctly mentioned by the candidates.
