Many candidates attempted this question. Most candidates merely narrated Alani’s preference to live in Ibadan.

The following points should be well developed by the candidates:

• Statement of the theme of cultural conformity.
• Character identification.
• Changes in the character and appearance of Alani.
• His attitude after his father’s death, towards his father’s property and the custom/culture of Kufi.
• His change of attitude towards his mother.
• His rejection of Uncle Deyo’s advice.

Candidates’ performance in this question was good.
