Many candidates attempted this question. However, many of them gave mere narrations of the Younger family without showing the complexities of the different aspirations of the Younger family.
The required answers should include:
- Mama’s aspiration to move the family into a larger house using the insurance money, is a source of conflict,
- Walter’s aspiration to own a liquor store conflicts with Mama’s and Beneatha’s aspirations.
- Beneatha’s dream of becoming a doctor is not supported by Walter.
- Ruth and Walter have a troubled relationship.
- The conflicts are resolved as the entire family relocated to the white neighbourhood.
Candidates’ performance in this question was fair.
