(b) State any six advantages of digital photography.
Observation
A straight forward question which required the candidates to write about digital photography and state its advantages. It was well attempted by the candidates, though a few confused it the functions of photography. The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to the question:
(a) - It is the type/kind of photography that involves the use of electronic
devices in capturing images such as cameras that contain photo detectors (sensor) as against the use of photographic film in traditional photography.
- Digital photography is the use of electronic photo/light detector to capture images using a digital camera.
(b) - It allows for the use of image editing software to make changes to the
picture.
- It allows images to be stored electronically as data on a computer or
external storage devices.
- It allows images to be sent or shared as soft copies over a network
system such as internet.
- In digital photography, images recorded are stored in memory cards or
hard disks.
- Post production in digital photography is done on a computer using
specific software.
- Images in digital photography can be shared electronically.
- Digital processing and printing saves time and energy.
- It allows on- camera image editing.
- It creates varied platforms for image viewing e.g. computing devices,
digital album, TV.
- It eliminates the use of chemical processing.
- It does not require the use of film which makes it cost effective.
- Digital images retain their quality, no matter how often they are
produced or copied.
- Digital photography is instantaneous as it allows review of the image.
- Digital images can be printed from a Digital camera via Bluetooth, wifi, infra red tethered to a printer.
