Observation
The question was on digital camera and identification of its parts and functions. Most of the candidates attempted this question and their performance was very good. The candidates were expected to answer the question with the following points:
(a) Digital Single Lens Reflex camera (DSLR).
(b)
F - Lens;
G - Flash;
H - Hot shoe;
I - LCD screen;
J - View finder.
(c) Lens
- It is used to gather rays of light from a scene and focus/project them on a light sensitive material in the camera.
- Image focusing is made using the lens.
- The lens allows the image to be seen through the view finder.
Flash
- It supplies additional but momentary illumination for subject/object recording.
- It can be used to create special effect in photography.
Hot shoe
- A space/bracket on top of the camera where external flash is attached to
enable it connect electronically to the camera.
- Also serves as a space where a slave unit can be attached when multiple
lighting is necessary.
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Screen
- The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen is a part that displays camera
settings (functions and menu).
- Enables the photographer to preview an image before recording.
- Enables image review after recording.
View finder
- It is a small window in a camera through which the subject/object is seen and composed before capturing/recording.
